CINCINNATI -- Four Tri-State high school football teams are among the best in the nation, according to Rivals.com. The sports website put out its RivalsHigh 100 list of the best high school football programs in the nation Tuesday. The top two schools will be announced Wednesday. Three teams made the top 20: Middletown at No. 14, Colerain at No. 15 and St. Xavier at No. 20. Moeller was ranked No. 43. Noticeably absent from the list are any teams from northern Kentucky, but with the top two teams yet to be announced, there could still be a fifth Tri-State school on the list. Rivals.com said that its list is compiled based on observations, phone calls and email exchanges with coaches and the opinions of Rivals.com high school and college publishers.
Couple of things stick out here: First of all who/what/where the fuck is Middletown? Never heard of them. Secondly, where is mighty Highlands? Whoever wrote this is obviously implying that Highlands could be one of the top two teams on this list. Is that really a possibility? Not that these rankings really mean anything but a school from Kentucky in the top two in the nation? Look I drive past that school everyday after work and don't get me wrong those boys have terrific bodies and are in great shape, but they don't have that star power from the Lorenzen/Smith/Hamblen/Guidugli/Gibson(Not Noah)/McMahon days. I'm not ruling it out but I would be shocked to see them at the top of this list, and it's kind of surprising if they don't make the list at all. Of course the pedigree of high school football, the St. Xavier Bombers, round out the top 20. No surprise there, nothing to see here folks keep it moving.
