Throwback Thursday: Iron Mike Tyson

First of all that video was fucking awesome. Gave me the chills for about 14 minutes. Mike Tyson, in my opinion, was the most talented boxer of all time. Now I know most people think that's insane, but I've thought long and hard about this. Tyson never beat anyone of note which is true, except for a washed up Larry Holmes. But any fighter will tell you boxing is at least 50% mental, and if not for the insane life that he lead, I don't think anyone ever would have beaten Iron Mike. By the age of 13 Mike had been arrested 38 times. His father left at a young age and his mom died when he was 16. That aside, he was still able to become the youngest heavyweight champ ever at age 20, winning his first 19 professional fights by knockout with TWELVE of them in the first round. His first loss was to Buster Douglas, who had recently lost his mother and fought the fight of his life. Tyson then went to prison for raping some floozie that was definitely a willing partner, and was never able to regain his prowess in the ring after his release 3 years later. Tyson is definitely in my top 5 favorite athletes of all time, not only for his style of fighting, but also for his attitude and personality. (See below). Definitely doesn't hurt that he was close friends with Tupac either.
