NEW YORK (AP) -- Authorities say a man was found swimming naked in a waterway next to the fuel farm of New York's Kennedy Airport.
A spokesman for the airport's operator, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, says airport patrols spotted the swimmer Tuesday morning.
The spokesman, Steven Coleman, says the man ran toward the fuel farm when the patrols approached. He was caught near a boat dock and never entered the restricted area.
The man was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He has been charged with criminal trespass, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Perimeter security plans are the airports' responsibility, but they're approved by the Transportation Security Administration
What is this Communist Russia? Since when is it illegal to go for a swim in a New York waterway in just your birthday suit? Shit, I thought this was America. My man here was probably just trying to get an early jump on Nude Happy Hour. Making sure he can get out to all of the good housboat spots and be all set to go when that bell rings and everyone knows that its time to drop the suits and party with only what the good lord gave ya.. Can't hate on him for that. Everyone knows that if you're left out in the cold and don't have a prime location, then you really can't fully enjoy the happy hour. If only the idiots complaining about the Kentucky Speedsway traffic would have had this guy's initiative about getting there early they might have actually been able to see the race. The last thing this guy needs is a psychiatric evaluation and criminal charges; he needs to be commended for his initiative.
