Strippers Complain About Having to Give Free Show

AOL - Exotic dancers don't generally elicit a lot of sympathy, but most people would agree that it's more than a little inappropriate -- and illegal -- for a group of them to be strip-searched in front of 20 male police officers. A Florida judge ruled that the officers involved were out of line, but granted the women what could be considered an extremely low settlement.

It all came about because of a drug raid at Biggins Gentleman's Club in Daytona Beach Shores, where undercover police had reportedly conducted controlled drug purchases. An "all persons search warrant" was issued for the club, and four dancers and two female bartenders were subjected to strip searches, while 20 male officers and the city's public safety director watched. No arrest warrants were issued for any of these women.

Tough call on who to side with here. In one corner you've got a group of strippers over here complaining about being strip searched inside of the strip club. Kind of hard to argue that their rights were violated when basically all the cops were asking was that the strippers do their job. Grab a seat in the corner, watch the broads dance around on a pole to Pour Some Sugar on Me, boom, search complete. That'd be like me complaining that my rights were violated if cops came in to my office and forced me to blog. And it's not like the cops were in there performing full cavity searches looking for drugs stuffed up into any random hole they could find. Just a simple strip dance search.

On the other hand though, these cops are just abusing their power here and trying to circumvent the system. Just taking that search warrant to mean that they can bust into a strip joint and enjoy the show without having to pay a cover, toss a few singles on the ground, or even pay for the exclusive private show. Pretty sure it's a pillar of American society that you don't get to view the goods without paying the toll. These chicks are trying to earn an honest and decent living by showing off what God and plastics surgeons gave them, the last thing they need is Officer Farva busting in and demanding a strip show without any singles.

I'm going to have to side with the strips on this one. Who ya got, strips or police?
